Norman tap water wins regional taste contest, advances to 2027 national round
NORMAN - Norman's drinking water took first place at the Southwest American Water Works Association's regional taste contest in Bossier City, Louisiana, the last week of October, the city said in a Nov. 4 release.
Six invited systems from Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana competed, including Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Three judges rated room-temperature samples on a 10-point scale. The release does not give scores. The city qualified by winning the state contest in May and also won the regional title in 2025, according to the release.
"To win again is even more special," said Chris Mattingly, Norman's director of utilities.
Norman will compete with about 40 regional winners for the national title at the association's 2027 conference in San Diego.
