Moore voters renew half-cent sales tax and approve $18 million in drainage bonds
MOORE - Moore voters approved both city propositions on the Nov. 3 special election ballot, according to the City of Moore's election page. The half-cent sales tax renewal passed with 61.31% of the vote, and an $18 million general obligation bond for drainage work passed with 52.64%.
The renewed tax runs four years, from April 1, 2027, through March 31, 2031. The city says it does not change the current 8.5% total sales tax rate. Under Ordinance 1078(26), 70% of the money goes to residential street repair, 20% to police, fire and emergency management equipment, and 10% to public safety operations such as training, new positions and raises.
The bond money is earmarked for drainage at NE 20th Street and Lincoln Avenue ($7.7 million), Ramblin Oaks Drive and part of Main Street ($8.8 million), and Sooner Drive ($1.5 million). The city says the bonds will not push its millage above the current 16.5-mill cap.
