CHAMPAIGN - Eight students and faculty members from Tokyo Metropolitan University visited Parkland College from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3 for an educational and cultural exchange, according to a Nov. 5 Parkland newsroom notice. The visit was meant to strengthen English skills and give the guests a look at American higher education and culture, the college said.

The delegation included Professor Hiroyuki Nomoto, Associate Professor Kota Takehara, graduate students Yanjun Zhang and Xuan Zhang, and undergraduates Rio Yamashita, Karin Watanabe, Minami Ito and Shino Ota. Guests visited classrooms, toured campus and agricultural facilities, and joined cultural conversations with Parkland students. Parkland's Japanese Culture Club hosted lunch, a Curtis Orchard outing and Halloween trick-or-treating with a faculty family. Nomoto said the college wants to continue the exchanges.
