Urbana school board picks B.W.P. and Associates to run superintendent search
URBANA - The Urbana School District 116 board has selected B.W.P. and Associates to help lead its search for the next superintendent, after hearing from a total of six search firms, according to the district's summary of the Oct. 27 Board of Education meeting, posted Oct. 28.
The district outlines a four-part process. The firm will plan the search with the board, engage the community and build a leadership profile; advertise the job nationwide; screen and research applicants and present four to seven candidates to the board; then help the board interview one to three finalists and hire. The firm will also provide onboarding support, the district says. It says it will tell staff, families and students more about the search and how they can give input.
The board also heard an update on a planned bus shelter in Ivanhoe Estates for more than 100 district students. The project has raised $29,000 toward a $50,000 goal, the district has pledged $5,000, and construction won't start until spring.
