Savoy study session packet includes FY2026 audit, appointment resolution
The Nov. 4 agenda packet carries the auditor's report and a 0.7331 rate history; it shows no levy proposal or votes.
SAVOY - The agenda for the Village of Savoy Board of Trustees' Nov. 4 study session listed staff reports on the village audit and a tax levy discussion, according to the agenda packet posted by the village. The packet includes the Independent Auditor's Report from Lauterbach & Amen, LLP, dated Oct. 16, 2026, for the fiscal year ended April 30, 2026.
In that report, the auditors give their opinion that the village's financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, its financial position as of April 30, 2026.
A schedule in the audit shows the village's total tax rate at 0.7331 for both the 2024 and 2025 levy years. Assessed valuation was $356,452,631 for 2025, up from $314,300,574 for 2024, and taxes extended for 2025 totaled $2,613,154. The packet contains no written proposal for the next levy.
The packet also includes a draft resolution confirming Village President John P. Brown's appointments of Sarah J. Tufte to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, through April 30, 2029, and Mark Wetzel to the Planning Commission, through May 31, 2028. The packet does not show whether trustees acted on the resolution.

Correction, Nov. 6, 2026: Correction: An earlier version of this story included a projected assessed valuation of about $383 million, an estimated levy yield of about $2,712,470, a Nov. 28 Truth in Taxation notice date and a Dec. 9 hearing and adoption plan, and described what trustees heard and what staff introduced at the meeting. Those statements could not be substantiated from the village's Nov. 4 agenda packet, the story's permitted source, and have been removed. The story now reports only what the packet contains and notes that the packet does not show meeting actions. This correction concerns sourcing; it does not mean the removed figures or dates are wrong.
