Champaign County takes bids through Nov. 4 for St. Joseph bridge deck replacement
URBANA - The Champaign County Highway Department is accepting sealed bids until 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, for a project it lists as the St. Joseph Bridge Deck Replacement, Section 25-27153-00-BR, according to the department's notice to contractors.
Proposals go to the county engineer's office and will be opened and read aloud at the deadline. Plans and proposal booklets are available from the Highway Department, 1605 E. Main St., Urbana, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Electronic plans are free; paper copies cost $50.
Bidders must be prequalified and must include a proposal guaranty under the Illinois Department of Transportation's bidding provisions for local projects, Check Sheet LRS-6, the notice says. The county may reject any or all proposals.
The notice does not say which bridge or road the project covers, and it gives no cost estimate or funding source. The department's bid list shows two other bridge deck replacements this fall, on County Highway 8 and County Highway 16, which took bids Sept. 29 and Oct. 7.
