Fernie's High Horse seeks Class A liquor license; Urbana committee takes it up Monday
URBANA - Fernie's High Horse LLC has applied for a Class A liquor license for its business at 118 S. Race St., and Urbana City Council members will take up a resolution adding one license to that class when they meet as the Committee of the Whole at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at 400 S. Vine St., according to the meeting agenda.
A Class A license lets the holder sell and serve all alcoholic liquor by the drink or in the original package for drinking on the premises only, a memo from the mayor's office says. Urbana caps the number of licenses in each class, so a new one requires the council to raise the limit.
The memo asks the council to approve the license. If the resolution passes, the deputy local liquor commissioner would issue the license with an expiration date of June 30, 2027.
The same agenda includes the city's estimated tax levy for fiscal year 2026-27 and an addendum to the firefighters' union contract covering the rank of battalion chief.
