Mahomet-Seymour High School named a 2026 Governor's Blue Ribbon School
It was the only Champaign County school among the 24 honored statewide.
MAHOMET - Mahomet-Seymour High School has been named a 2026 Governor's Blue Ribbon School, Gov. JB Pritzker's office and the Illinois State Board of Education announced Oct. 20.
The school, part of Mahomet-Seymour Community Unit School District 3, was recognized in the High Performing category, according to the governor's release. The other category honors schools that have made significant progress in closing achievement gaps.
This year's class includes 16 public schools and eight nonpublic schools. Mahomet-Seymour High School is the only Champaign County school on the list. The state started the program last year after the federal Blue Ribbon Schools program was canceled, the release says, and honorees will be invited to a recognition event at the Governor's Mansion in Springfield this spring.
