Eastbound Kirby Avenue down to one lane between Grandview and State through Friday
CHAMPAIGN - One eastbound lane of Kirby Avenue between Grandview Drive and State Street is closed through Friday for a gas line repair, according to a City of Champaign notice posted Oct. 19.
Ameren Illinois and Shaw Brothers closed the lane on Monday, Oct. 19, the city said. The notice says the lane will reopen by 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Until then, eastbound traffic on that stretch of Kirby is reduced to one lane. The notice does not list a detour.
The Kirby work runs the same week as another utility lane closure in the city. One southbound lane of Mattis Avenue between William Street and Sheridan Road is closed through Friday, weather permitting, for pavement patching by Illinois American Water Company and Shaw Brothers, according to a city notice posted Oct. 15.
