Champaign closes lanes on Mattis Avenue and Third Street Monday, Paula-McKinley intersection Tuesday
CHAMPAIGN - Three construction closures take effect on Champaign streets Monday and Tuesday, according to City of Champaign notices posted Oct. 14 and 15.
One southbound lane of Mattis Avenue between William Street and Sheridan Road closes Monday, Oct. 19, so Illinois American Water Company and Shaw Brothers can finish pavement patching. The city says the lane is scheduled to reopen Friday, Oct. 23, weather permitting. Southbound traffic will be down to one lane in that stretch.
Also on Monday, Advanced Crane Services will close the northbound lane of Third Street between Healey Street and Springfield Avenue from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a crane lift in the 500 block of South Third Street. Southbound traffic will stay open, the city said.
Starting Tuesday, Oct. 20, Stark Excavating will close the intersection of Paula Drive and McKinley Avenue to all vehicles for the Garden Hills Phase 3 Project. The city expects that closure to take two to four weeks, depending on weather, and says more lane or road closures will be announced as the project continues. None of the three notices lists a detour.
