Urbana police log e-bike, scooter and package thefts and a maintenance-shop burglary on Thursday

URBANA - Urbana police took reports of three thefts and one burglary on Thursday, Oct. 15, according to the department's daily criminal activity report released Friday.

An electric scooter was taken from the 300 block of Cedar Street in the afternoon, and a locked e-bike was taken from the 900 block of Springfield Avenue around midday. In the 2900 block of East Stone Creek Boulevard, someone tampered with a package and removed a new cell phone before it reached the recipient, the report says. Police logged each case as theft of property worth more than $500.

That morning, a woman went into an apartment complex's maintenance shop in the 1800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue without permission and took several items, the report shows. Police classified the case as burglary of a building.

The department's arrest report for the same day does not list an arrest in any of the four cases.
