Parkland College trustees take up audit, tax levy estimate ahead of November vote

CHAMPAIGN - Parkland College's Board of Trustees was set to vote Wednesday on accepting the college's fiscal 2026 audit, according to the board book posted for the Oct. 14 meeting. The motion asked trustees to accept the annual financial report as presented by the college's chief financial officer and its outside auditor, Forvis Mazars.

The board book says the federal single-audit section is not included yet because the federal government has not finalized its 2026 compliance guidance. The college will issue that section separately, as it did last year.

The consent agenda also asked trustees to accept $7,655,000 in grants the college has already received. The largest were $3.5 million in congressionally directed spending for a dental clinic expansion, a five-year, $3 million federal Title III grant and $1.05 million in congressionally directed spending for aviation, according to the board book.

Trustees were also scheduled to hear the estimated amounts the college needs from its upcoming 2026 property tax levy. State Truth in Taxation law requires that estimate at least 20 days before a final levy is adopted. The board book did not list the dollar figures.

The agenda also included an annual grants report and a personnel report. The meeting's outcome had not been posted Thursday. The board's next regular meeting is Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in Room U325 on the Champaign campus, according to the college's meeting schedule.
