Unit 4 and support staff union reach tentative contract; members vote Oct. 21
The agreement covers wages, benefits, leave and working conditions, the superintendent's newsletter says. It still needs ratification and a School Board vote.
CHAMPAIGN - Champaign Unit 4 Schools and the Champaign Educational Support Professionals, the union known as CESP, have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, according to Superintendent Dr. Geovanny Ponce's Oct. 9 newsletter to the district community.
The newsletter says the agreement includes improvements in wages, benefits, leave and other working conditions. It does not list pay figures, percentages or the length of the contract.
CESP members will review the agreement and hold a ratification vote on Oct. 21, the newsletter says. If members ratify it, the contract then goes to the School Board for approval. "The agreement remains tentative until the required approvals are complete," Ponce wrote.
The district describes its educational support professionals as staff who support students in classrooms, keep buildings operating and help schools run smoothly. The School Board's next regular meeting on the district calendar is Oct. 26.
