Champaign County Circuit Clerk waives late and collection fees for full payments Oct. 19-30

URBANA - People who owe money on criminal, traffic, DUI, ordinance violation or conservation violation cases in Champaign County can pay off those balances without accumulated late and collection fees from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, according to a press release from Circuit Clerk Susan W. McGrath's office.
The clerk's amnesty page says the fees are waived only when the full balance on a case is paid during the event. The waiver does not cover fines and costs already paid or tax refunds already applied to a balance.
Participants must first request a quote for each case through the clerk's website. Online payments open at 9 a.m. Oct. 19 and close at midnight Oct. 30, the page states.
In-person payments are taken at the Circuit Clerk's Office in the Champaign County Courthouse, 101 E. Main St., Urbana, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, including the lunch hour. Payers should bring their quote and a current driver's license or state ID. Cash, cashier's checks, credit and debit cards are accepted; personal checks are not.
Questions go to the clerk's office at 217-384-3725 or cccircuitclerk@champaigncountyil.gov, according to the clerk's amnesty page.
