Willard Airport begins $1.5 million state-funded apron repaving

A $500,000 entrance road and employee parking rehab, also paid by Rebuild Illinois, is finished.

SAVOY - A $1.5 million project to rehabilitate worn pavement on University of Illinois-Willard Airport's aircraft aprons is underway, paid for by the state's Rebuild Illinois program, the airport said Oct. 6.

The aprons are where general aviation aircraft park, are serviced and board, and they also handle sports charter flights for Illinois athletics and visiting teams. The work will be finished this fall, according to the airport.

The airport also recently finished rebuilding a secondary terminal entrance road and improving employee parking, a $500,000 project also funded by Rebuild Illinois. "These investments are helping transform Willard Airport and position us for continued growth," said Tim Bannon, the airport's executive director.
