Hickory Street closes near Washington Street on Friday for downtown plaza storm sewers
MTD buses also reroute tonight while Gregory is closed between Sixth and Goodwin for a 5K run.
CHAMPAIGN - Both lanes of Hickory Street will close to traffic near its intersection with Washington Street on Friday, Oct. 9, so crews can install new storm sewers for Phase 2 of the Downtown Plaza Project, the City of Champaign said Thursday. The street is expected to reopen the same day.
Drivers using the city parking lot at Neil and Washington streets can still reach it from Washington Street, the city said.
Separately, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District lists Gregory as closed between Sixth and Goodwin from about 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, for a 5K run. MTD's reroute notice lists the Gold, Silver Limited, Silver, Cherry and Illini routes. Riders with questions can call MTD at 217-384-8188.
