Francis Drive closes at McKinley Avenue Monday for 6-8 weeks; Staley Road paving runs through Oct. 23
William Street between Prairie and State streets is set to reopen by 4 p.m. Friday.
CHAMPAIGN - Francis Drive will close to traffic on the east side of its intersection with McKinley Avenue starting Monday, Oct. 12, so Stark Excavating can install a new storm sewer, the City of Champaign said. The closure, part of the Garden Hills Phase 3 project, is expected to last six to eight weeks.
Francis Drive residents can still reach their homes by coming westbound on Francis. McKinley Avenue's northbound lane will have a flagger-controlled closure during the day and reopen to two-way traffic at night, the city said.
On Staley Road, Cross Construction began milling and paving Tuesday from about 1,000 feet south of Curtis Road to about 100 feet north of Windsor Road. Flaggers are alternating traffic, and the work is expected to finish by Friday, Oct. 23, weather permitting.
William Street between Prairie and State streets, closed for sanitary sewer work by SNC Construction, is now set to reopen by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, along with a southbound lane and bike lane of State Street.
