Willard Airport now expects United's O'Hare flights to start in late October 2027
An FAA cap on O'Hare operations, extended through October 2027, stalled the planned four daily round trips.
SAVOY - United Airlines' return to University of Illinois-Willard Airport is now expected at the end of October 2027, a year later than planned, the airport said in an Oct. 6 update.
United had planned four daily nonstop flights between Willard and Chicago O'Hare International Airport starting Oct. 25. The service was postponed after the Federal Aviation Administration capped O'Hare at 2,708 daily operations and then extended those limits through October 2027, according to the airport.
The four daily flights would have added more than 50% to Willard's daily seats, the airport said. It said United has continued to indicate it remains committed to the Champaign-Urbana market.
