Metro Council sets Oct. 28 hearings on Capitol House district taxes and $1 million River Center deal
BATON ROUGE - The Metropolitan Council will hold a public hearing Oct. 28 on a resolution directing the Capitol House Economic Development District to levy a 2% sales and use tax and a 2% hotel occupancy tax inside the district, according to the council's Oct. 14 agenda, where the measure was introduced.
Also set for a hearing that day is a cooperative endeavor agreement with the state for work on the Raising Cane's River Center. It pairs $750,000 in state capital outlay money with a required $250,000 local match, for $1 million in planning, design and renovations, the agenda shows. The Mayor's Office and the River Center brought the item.
The agenda does not list the district's boundaries. Residents can speak at council hearings or send comments through the council's online form at brla.gov/councilcomment, under the council's public comment policy.
