Windsor Locks Town Hall to close Fridays starting Nov. 8

ShareFacebookXEmail

WINDSOR LOCKS - Windsor Locks Town Hall will close on Fridays under a permanent four-day schedule that starts Sunday, Nov. 8, according to a notice from First Selectman Jonathan W. Savino.

Town Hall offices will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The first Friday closing falls on Nov. 13.

The notice says Friday traffic has been light while residents keep seeking services after 4 p.m. on other weekdays, so the longer hours are meant to help working residents. Hourly employees will keep their 35-hour workweek on a compressed schedule.

After seven budget referendums, the notice says, closing on Fridays is expected to cut heating, cooling, electricity and other operating costs. It names Tolland, Mansfield, Vernon, Stafford and Ellington as towns already on a four-day schedule.

Taxes, building permits and other business can still be handled online, and after-school and recreation programs, including Friday programs, continue as scheduled.
