Second Baptist Church of Suffield offers Halloween treats, collects blankets for soup kitchen

SUFFIELD - Second Baptist Church of Suffield will hand out Halloween treats on Saturday, Oct. 31, and is collecting blankets and bedding for a Springfield soup kitchen through Nov. 8, according to the church's Oct. 25 Sunday bulletin.

The church, at 100 North Main Street, invites families trick-or-treating on Main Street to stop at its Common Room entrance from 5 to 7 p.m. on Halloween, the bulletin says.

The bedding drive asks for clean, gently used blankets, comforters, sleeping bags and warm bedding, left at the church's Welcome Center by Sunday, Nov. 8. The church plans to deliver the donations on Saturday, Nov. 14, to the Springfield Soup Kitchen on Maple Street in Springfield, Mass., where members serve a meal each month.

A Foodshare mobile pantry is scheduled for the church's back parking lot at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The church's "Christmas in Suffield" craft fair runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Organizers seek small gift items for a Secret Santa shop for children, baked goods, plants and cuttings, costume jewelry, and volunteers to help set up and clean up.

Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. The church office number is 860-668-1661.
