Tampa General promotes Lijah Lokenauth to chief financial officer; Mark Runyon moves to special projects

Lokenauth, TGH's senior vice president of finance since rising through its accounting ranks, takes the top finance job Jan. 4.

TAMPA - Tampa General Hospital will have a new chief financial officer in January. The hospital said Oct. 30 that Lijah Lokenauth, now its senior vice president of finance, has been promoted to executive vice president and CFO, effective Jan. 4, 2027.

Lokenauth, a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner, joined TGH in 2018 as corporate controller and later became vice president of accounting and finance before taking his current job, according to the release. He now oversees budgeting, financial performance, revenue management and operations across the system and its affiliated partners. Before Tampa General, he held finance leadership roles at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

TGH said Lokenauth has worked in recent months on two of its larger strategic moves: its ambulatory care partnership with Mass General Brigham and the addition of TGH DeSoto to the system earlier this year.

Mark Runyon, who joined Tampa General in early 2020 and is the current CFO, will become executive vice president of executive special projects, reporting directly to Couris. The hospital credits Runyon with steering it through the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, raising more than $1.2 billion in capital through bond financing, securing a credit rating upgrade and modernizing systemwide financial reporting.

Lokenauth said in the release that the focus ahead will be on keeping a strong financial foundation and making disciplined decisions about how the organization allocates its resources.
