Tampa General and Palm Beach health district plan Lakeside Cancer Center for 2027

The center in Loxahatchee is set to serve rural western Palm Beach County.

TAMPA - Tampa General Hospital and the Health Care District of Palm Beach County plan to open a cancer center for rural western Palm Beach County in September 2027, according to an Oct. 23 TGH news release. The partners announced Lakeside Cancer Center at a town hall in the Glades on Oct. 22.

The center is planned for 15440 Tangerine Drive in Loxahatchee, within 25 miles of Lakeside Medical Center, which Tampa General already runs in partnership with the district. The release calls it the first significant expansion of care in the region since that partnership began.

TGH cited a 2025 Lakeside Medical Center community needs assessment that found cancer caused 21.6% of deaths across South Bay, Pahokee, Belle Glade and Clewiston.

Patients there would draw on the TGH Cancer Institute, which the hospital says has more than 40 oncologists and ran 77 active clinical trials in 2025. The release does not give the center's cost or how many jobs it will add.
