Google's Gemini app can now create and edit documents inside the chat
Users can edit PDFs, spreadsheets, slides and code without leaving the conversation.
Google said Oct. 29 that people using its Gemini AI app can now create, preview and edit files such as documents, PDFs, slide presentations, spreadsheets and computer code without leaving the chat.
Users can open a file full screen and type changes themselves, highlight a passage to ask a question about it, or ask Gemini to revise it. The Mountain View company gave the example of turning handwritten lecture notes into a PDF study guide, then editing it.
PDF editing works on the web and on phones. Other formats, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, slide decks and plain text files, work only on the web for now. Google said the features are available to all users in every language where the Gemini app is offered.
