Anthropic files for Nasdaq stock sale; OpenAI sets no IPO date
The Claude maker has not set a share price. OpenAI has filed only a confidential draft and has not set timing.
Anthropic, the San Francisco maker of the Claude AI system, filed Oct. 26 to sell stock publicly, according to its Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. An S-1 is the form filed before an initial public offering, or IPO.
Anthropic said it plans to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT." It has not set a share count or price range, so the amount it would raise is unknown. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley lead the sale.
The filing reports first-half 2026 revenue of $16.3 billion, up from $1.2 billion a year earlier, and an $80.7 billion net loss. Changes in the value of convertible notes and similar securities made up $72.4 billion of it. Google and Amazon invested through such notes and preferred stock.
Anthropic runs Claude partly on chips from Santa Clara-based NVIDIA and AMD. It had about 5,300 employees on Sept. 30 and lists no San Jose office.
OpenAI said June 8 it had confidentially submitted a draft S-1 and had not set timing. EDGAR, the SEC's database, shows no public OpenAI filing. CEO Sam Altman told Fortune in September it would not go public in 2026.
