The Bruins rallied on senior night at E.S. Rose Park and stretched their home unbeaten run to seven matches.
NASHVILLE - Sophomore midfielder Paul Claes Nielsen scored in the 67th minute to give Belmont men's soccer a 1-1 draw with Western Michigan on Friday, Oct. 30, in the Bruins' regular-season home finale at E.S. Rose Park, according to a Belmont Athletics release.
Western Michigan's Kyle Pierson scored a little over 10 minutes in. Graduate midfielder John McDowell set up the equalizer, his team-leading fourth assist; the goal was Claes Nielsen's fifth, tying McDowell for the team lead. Belmont outshot the Broncos 12-6 in the second half, and freshman goalkeeper Brody Sucher made six saves.
Belmont (6-5-4, 2-1-2 Missouri Valley Conference) is unbeaten in seven straight home matches. Five seniors were honored before the match.
The Bruins close the regular season at Evansville at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, on ESPN+. The release says Belmont will be the No. 3, 4 or 5 seed for the MVC Championship, and a result at Evansville guarantees a top-four seed and a home first-round match.
