NASHVILLE - Vanderbilt women's basketball opens its 2026-27 season against crosstown Lipscomb at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Memorial Gymnasium in an Education Day game streaming on SEC Network+, according to Vanderbilt Athletics.

Junior guard Mikayla Blakes was named Tuesday to the 20-player preseason watch list for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, which goes to the nation's top shooting guard and is part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's Starting 5, the release says.

Blakes won the award for 2025-26 after leading the nation at 27.0 points per game. Her 918 points set the SEC single-season scoring record and the NCAA sophomore scoring record, according to Vanderbilt. She was also the SEC Player of the Year.
