No. 1 Vanderbilt soccer hosts Texas Friday with a chance to clinch the SEC regular-season title
The unbeaten Commodores lead the SEC by four points with two matches left.
NASHVILLE - Top-ranked Vanderbilt hosts Texas at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex, with a chance to clinch the Southeastern Conference regular-season title, according to a Vanderbilt Athletics preview. The match streams on ESPN+.
Vanderbilt (14-0-1, 7-0-1 SEC) leads the conference by four points with two matches left and needs two points, a win or two draws, for its first regular-season title since 2018, the preview says. The Commodores are No. 1 in both national polls.
Texas is 8-3-4 overall and 3-2-3 in the SEC in Margueritte Bates' first season. Amalia Villareal, with eight goals, and Ava McDonald, with five goals, lead the Longhorns' attack.
The all-time series is tied 3-3. Texas won last season's meeting 2-1 in Austin on a 90th-minute penalty.
Friday's match is Vanderbilt's next-to-last of the regular season.
