Nashville native Junior Sherrill carries FBS's longest active catch streak into Vanderbilt's trip to Kentucky
The Lipscomb Academy graduate has caught a pass in 44 straight games and ranks eighth on Vanderbilt's career receiving yards list.
NASHVILLE - Vanderbilt senior wide receiver Junior Sherrill, a Nashville native who played at Lipscomb Academy, holds the longest active reception streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision, having caught a pass in 44 straight games, according to a Vanderbilt Athletics feature published Friday.
Sherrill ranks eighth on Vanderbilt's career receiving yards list with 2,116, and his fourth touchdown catch of the season, against Arkansas, moved him into a tie for eighth on the program's career receiving touchdowns list, the feature says.
He is one of 18 players on Vanderbilt's roster from Nashville and its surrounding suburbs. His high school coach, Jamie Graham, played football and basketball at Vanderbilt. "It felt like a direct path here," Sherrill said in the feature.
Saturday's game will be Sherrill's 46th appearance for the Commodores; he has played in every game of his career. Vanderbilt plays at No. 12 Kentucky at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in Lexington, on SEC Network.
