NASHVILLE - Nashville SC can clinch Major League Soccer's Supporters' Shield with a win Saturday night against the San Jose Earthquakes, according to the club's official match preview. Kickoff at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, is 9:30 p.m. Central, with the match on Apple TV and 104.5 The Zone.
Nashville leads the league table by 14 points with five matches left and has won four straight, the preview says. The Shield goes to the team with the most points in the 34-game regular season and brings home-field advantage through the MLS Cup Playoffs, according to the club.
The club's explainer says Nashville can also clinch Saturday with a draw if Vancouver drops points, or with a loss if Vancouver and Miami both drop points.
Cristian Espinoza, who leads Nashville with 14 assists, spent six seasons with San Jose before joining the club this year, the preview says.
