Gaston County commissioners adopt Nov. 4-11 Operation Green Light for veterans
Residents and businesses are asked to show a green light in a window through Veterans Day.
MOUNT HOLLY - Gaston County commissioners approved a proclamation on Oct. 27 naming Nov. 4 through Nov. 11 as Operation Green Light for Veterans, according to the county's legislation record, which lists the item as passed and adopted as resolution 2026-354.
The proclamation asks residents and businesses to display a green light in a window from Nov. 4 through Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to honor service members, including those moving from active duty back to civilian life, the meeting transcript shows. The adopted proclamation text carries the same request.
The county's staff summary says this Veterans Day marks the fifth anniversary of Operation Green Light, which the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers encourage counties to join by lighting buildings green. The item was sponsored by board Chairman Chad Brown, and the staff contact is Joseph Stepney of Gaston County Veterans Services, the record shows.
Commissioner Tom Keigher made the motion and Commissioner Jim Bailey seconded it; Commissioner Allen R. Fraley was recorded absent, the action record shows.
