Election Day in Miami: polls are open until 7 p.m. today

Vote at your assigned precinct with a photo ID that shows your signature. Mail ballots must reach the Elections Department by 7 p.m., and two polling places have moved.

MIAMI - Polls are open today, Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the Miami-Dade Elections Department and the City of Miami's legal notices. Early voting ended Sunday. City of Miami voters will see three city questions on their ballots along with county, School Board and statewide measures.

Where to vote

Today, voters must go to their assigned precinct, which is set by their home address. Voters can confirm their precinct and see a personal sample ballot through the department's voter information lookup, by calling 311 or on their voter information card.

Temporary polling place changes

The City Clerk's notice lists two temporary moves made by the Supervisor of Elections:

  • Precinct 523: from Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 2001 NW 35 St., to St. Paul Institutional AME Church, 1892 NW 51 Ter.
  • Precincts 548 and 670: from Miami-Dade County Auditorium, 2901 W. Flagler St., to Miami Senior High School, 2450 SW 1 St.

What to bring

In-person voters need a current, valid ID showing their name, photo and signature, such as a Florida driver license or state ID, a U.S. passport, or a military or student ID. A combination of IDs from the state's approved list works if no single card has both a photo and a signature.

Mail ballots

Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. today. Today they can be dropped off before 7 p.m. at the Elections Department, 2700 NW 87th Ave., or its branch office at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st St. Florida law does not allow mail ballots to be dropped off at a precinct, though a voter whose mail ballot has not been received can vote in person there, according to the department's vote-by-mail page.

Weather

The National Weather Service forecasts a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms today, with a high near 84. A coastal flood advisory is in effect for coastal Miami-Dade County until 7 p.m., with flooding possible on low-lying lots, parks and roads near the water. The weather service advises voters who drive to allow extra time and not to drive through standing water.

Results

The Elections Department posts results on its election night results page, which shows no counts until polls close. The City says results will begin posting at about 7:15 p.m., starting with mail and early voting totals, followed by precinct totals as they come in. The department says all results are preliminary and unofficial until the Canvassing Board certifies them. Miami on the Record will report results only from the Elections Department. Questions go to the department at 305-499-8683 or the City Clerk at 305-250-5361.
