SUU cross country runs at Big Sky championship today
It is the Thunderbirds' first Big Sky title meet since returning to the conference.
CEDAR CITY - Southern Utah University's men's and women's cross country teams race in the Big Sky Conference Championship on Friday, Oct. 30, at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, Ariz., hosted by Northern Arizona University, according to SUU Athletics. The men's 8K is slated to start at 10 a.m. and the women's 5K at 11 a.m., the release said.
"We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete in our first Big Sky Conference Championship back in the Big Sky," head coach Isaac Wood said in the release.
The SUU men won the University of California, Riverside Invitational, where Dax Daley won the open race, and placed third at the UVU Invite and second at the Color Country Invitational. The women placed fourth at the UVU, Riverside and Color Country meets, including fourth of 30 teams at Riverside.
The release lists Northern Arizona, Montana, Eastern Washington and Montana State in the field.
Both SUU teams will then wait to see whether they are selected for the NCAA Mountain Regional at the University of New Mexico on Nov. 13, according to SUU Athletics.
