Sinfonia da Camera plays Halloween-night 'Spellbound' concert Oct. 31 at Krannert Center
URBANA - Sinfonia da Camera will play a Halloween-night program called Spellbound at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in Krannert Center's Foellinger Great Hall, according to the center's event page.
Music director Ian Hobson conducts. The program pairs Paul Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain with Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, featuring guitarist Guido Sánchez Portuguez; the Habanera from Georges Bizet's Carmen, sung by contralto Marissa Simmons; and Manuel de Falla's El amor brujo.
A pre-concert talk and demonstration on The Sorcerer's Apprentice begins at 6:30 p.m. on Stage 5. After the concert, a reception on Stage 5 offers Halloween-themed food and drinks for purchase, and the center encourages costumes.
Tickets are listed at $50 standard, $46 for seniors and $10 for students and youth. Krannert Center is at 500 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana.
