Krannert Art Museum hosts visiting talks by Tyson E. Lewis Oct. 22 and Antawan Byrd Oct. 29
CHAMPAIGN - Krannert Art Museum will host two talks in the School of Art & Design Visiting Artists series on the next two Thursdays, according to the museum's event pages. Both run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the lower-level auditorium, KAM 62, at 500 E. Peabody Drive. Museum admission is free.
On Oct. 22, Tyson E. Lewis, a professor of art education at the University of North Texas, discusses research-creation and the alchemical studio, a talk that pairs the old practice of alchemy with the present-day studio and asks what that means for learning in schools and universities.
On Oct. 29, Antawan Byrd, associate curator of photography and media at the Art Institute of Chicago and an assistant professor of art history at Northwestern University, talks about photographs of midcentury gatherings during decolonization and civil rights struggles, drawn from his current book project.
Accessibility requests can go to kam-accessibility@illinois.edu, the museum says.
