Free Halloween dance workshops Oct. 24, glow-in-the-dark rock hunt Oct. 29 and campus legends walk Oct. 30
CHAMPAIGN - Three Halloween-week events for different ages are on local calendars, according to the organizers' own event pages.
The Champaign Park District will teach two free dance workshops Saturday, Oct. 24, at Springer Cultural Center, 301 N. Randolph St. A Monster Mash routine for ages 6 to 12 runs from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., and a Thriller workshop for ages 13 and up runs from 1 to 2 p.m. No registration is required, and the district asks dancers to bring comfortable shoes without black soles.
On Thursday, Oct. 29, the Urbana Park District holds its Glow in the Park Rock Hunt at 7:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park, where people 16 and older use black lights to search the Wandell Sculpture Garden for hidden rocks. It costs $3 in advance or $6 that night.
On Friday, Oct. 30, the Champaign County History Museum leads a 7 p.m. Haunts and Legends of UIUC walk from the Quad side of the Illini Union at Anniversary Plaza. The museum says the walk covers about a mile and a quarter and takes about 90 minutes; see its tours page for tickets.
