Kickoff times set for area teams' IHSA football opening-round games
Champaign Central plays Friday night at East Moline; Unity, Villa Grove and Centennial play Saturday afternoon
CHAMPAIGN - Four area football teams now have days and kickoff times for their IHSA playoff opening-round games, according to the Illinois High School Association's brackets, updated Monday, Oct. 19.
Champaign Central, seeded 17th in Class 6A, plays at No. 16 East Moline United at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. The winner meets top-seeded Chicago Kennedy in the first round.
Three games are set for Saturday, Oct. 24. Unity, the No. 10 seed in Class 3A, hosts No. 23 Robinson at 2 p.m. in Tolono. In Class 1A, No. 10 Villa Grove-Heritage hosts No. 23 Dupo at 2 p.m. at Villa Grove. Champaign Centennial, seeded 24th in Class 5A, plays No. 9 Chicago Corliss at 2:30 p.m. at Stagg Stadium, the bracket shows.
Mahomet-Seymour, St. Joseph-Ogden and Fisher skip the opening round. The IHSA lists their first-round dates as to be announced.
