City breaks ground Thursday on Liberty Park upgrades, including new playground and restroom

BOISE CITY — Boise Parks and Recreation will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for improvements at Liberty Park on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to noon at 520 N. Liberty St. The event is free, according to the city's event page.

The work at the 9-acre Central Bench park includes an accessible playground, a permanent restroom and new pathway connections. The city's project page puts the budget at more than $2 million, paid with impact fees, capital dollars and a federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.

Stroth General is the contractor, and the city estimates completion in June 2027. The playground design by Garrett Parks + Play drew more than 51% of the public vote. The city says about 1,090 residents live within a 10-minute walk of the park.
